On the Connected plan, link your bank, Shopify store, Square, or Stripe in under two minutes. Transactions sync in automatically — no CSV imports, no manual entry. Free plan users enter transactions manually.

Ask Dan anything

Create an invoice, look up what a customer owes, categorize a transaction, or just ask "what did I make last month?" Dan knows your books and responds in plain English. You stay in control — he makes you faster.

Plaid handles the connection

The same service your bank already uses for Venmo and Robinhood. You log in on Plaid's screen, not ours. Your username and password never reach our servers.

Read-only access

We can see transactions. We cannot move a dollar, initiate a payment, or change anything at your bank. There is no code in DanBooks that could.

You can leave with your books

Every report exports to CSV or PDF. It's your data. Cancel and take it with you — no export fee, no hostage situation.

I run a seed company in Idaho Falls. The books were the one thing I'd put off, because QuickBooks made them a chore. So they'd pile up, and catching up became a mountain I had to climb in a single sitting.

The things people actually ask.

Is the free plan really free?

Yes, and it isn't a trial. You get invoicing, manual transaction entry, your own chart of accounts, P&L and expense reports, and read-only accountant sharing for one business — no credit card, no expiry. The $19/month is for connecting your bank, Square, Stripe or Shopify so the data flows in on its own.

What happens to my books if I cancel?

They stay yours. Export everything to CSV or PDF on the way out. Your automatic bank feeds stop; the books, history and reports don't disappear.

Can DanBooks move money out of my account?

No. Bank connections are read-only through Plaid — we can read transactions and nothing else. There is no payment or transfer capability in the product.

I'm already on QuickBooks. Do I start over?

No. You can import from QuickBooks — accounts, customers, invoices and transaction history come across, so you keep your history instead of rebuilding it.

Do I still need a bookkeeper or CPA?

For a tax return, probably yes — and DanBooks makes that cheaper, because they spend their time on advice instead of cleaning up your data entry. Invite them free and they work in your books directly.

What is Dan, exactly?

An assistant that reads your actual books and answers in plain English — "what did I spend on fuel last quarter," "who owes me money," "why is this month down." It's included, not an add-on.

Who's behind it, and will it still be here next year?
